26 Hours for Chicken? Popeyes Opens in Blanchardstown 🍗

Blanchardstown officially welcomed Ireland's first Popeyes last week — and the opening was every bit as chaotic as expected.

The first person in the queue arrived 26 hours before opening, earning themselves "chicken for life" (one sandwich per month for the next 50 years). Hundreds more queued in the rain hoping to be among the first through the doors.

The opening created huge buzz across Dublin 15, with shoppers stopping to watch the line snake through Blanchardstown Centre as curious passers-by questioned whether any chicken sandwich could really be worth the wait.

Judging by the crowds, plenty of people thought so.

New Director from Liverpool ONE Appointed at Blanchardstown Centre

Blanchardstown Centre has announced the appointment of Iain Finlayson as its new Centre Director.

Joining from Liverpool ONE in the UK, one of Europe's leading retail destinations, he brings significant experience in retail management, visitor experience and commercial strategy.

With new brands continuing to arrive and over 188 stores already calling the centre home, the appointment signals continued ambition to strengthen Blanchardstown's position as Ireland's leading retail and leisure destination.

It'll be interesting to see what changes the new leadership brings over the coming years.

Calls Grow for a Garda College in Blanchardstown 👮‍♂️

Councillors and local representatives are backing the idea of locating Ireland's proposed second Garda training college in Blanchardstown.

Supporters argue Dublin 15's growing population, excellent transport links and proximity to TU Dublin make it an ideal location for future Garda education and training.

While no decision has been made, the proposal would represent a significant investment in the area and could bring hundreds of trainees and staff into the local economy if approved.

For now, the conversation is gathering momentum.

New Woodland Playground Opens in Laurel Lodge 🌳

Families in Castleknock have a brand new playground to enjoy after the opening of the woodland-themed play area at Laurel Lodge Green.

Designed for children up to 12 years old, the €346,000 facility includes swings, a large slide tower, roundabout, climbing features, seating areas, bike parking and even a drinking water fountain.

Nestled among mature trees, it's expected to become a popular community hub throughout the summer months and is another welcome investment in local family amenities.

Pressure Mounts on Coolmine Manna Drone Operations

The debate around Manna's drone deliveries in Dublin 15 continues to intensify.

Following Fingal County Council's refusal of planning retention for its Coolmine drone base, councillors are now calling for legal action to halt operations while the planning process plays out.

Supporters point to innovation, local jobs and convenience, while opponents cite planning rules, noise concerns and the impact on nearby communities.

With Manna also operating from Blanchardstown Centre, the outcome could shape the future of drone deliveries not just locally, but across Ireland.

Community ❤️

Fundraiser for Castleknock Fire

A fundraiser has been launched for a mother and daughter who escaped a devastating apartment fire in Castleknock with only the pyjamas they were wearing.

The blaze destroyed their home and belongings, leaving them needing emergency accommodation and support to rebuild their lives.

The local community has already begun rallying around the family, with donations helping cover essential clothing, accommodation and household basics as they start over.

It's another reminder of how quickly lives can change — and how strong community spirit can be when it's needed most.
