Crime 👮

60+ Scramblers, E-Scooters & Quad Bikes Seized by Gardaí 🛴

Gardaí carried out a co-ordinated day of action on Friday 20th February as part of Operation Meacán across Finglas, Cabra and Blanchardstown.

The operation involved Gardaí from DMR West Crime North and Blanchardstown Community Engagement units.

What was seized:

  • 29 scramblers

  • 21 e-scooters

  • 3 e-bikes

  • 3 quad bikes

  • 1 mini-motorcycle

In addition:

  • €20,720 worth of controlled drugs

  • Cash and a number of weapons

18 residential searches were conducted and one man in his 20s has been charged and is due before the courts.

Explore Fingal Officially Launched 🌍

Fingal County Council has launched a new destination tourism brand: Explore Fingal.

The new brand aims to position Fingal as a premier cultural, coastal and culinary destination — aligned with Visit Dublin and national tourism strategies.

Key attractions highlighted include:

  • Malahide Castle & Gardens

  • Newbridge House & Farm

  • Farmleigh House

  • Howth Castle

  • Ardgillan Castle

  • Skerries Mills

The initiative is part of the Fingal Tourism Strategy 2024–2029 and includes marketing, development and food & drink initiatives.

A big push to grow tourism across the county.

Champions League Debut from Galway, New Women’s Museum, GAA Facility Approved & 200 Jobs 💼

  • Alex Murphy makes Newcastle debut: The 21-year-old Irish defender started in Newcastle United’s 3–2 Champions League play-off win, securing their place in the last 16.

    He said afterwards that his barber flew over for the match: “I got it cut yesterday just in case…”

  • 🏛️ National Women’s Museum planned for Limerick: A landmark city building is set to become a branch of the National Museum of Ireland, with a permanent exhibition dedicated to telling the stories of women in Ireland — expanding cultural infrastructure beyond Dublin.

  • 🏟️ Dublin GAA training facility approved: Planning permission has been upheld for a major new state-of-the-art Dublin GAA training centre at the Spawell site in Templeogue, despite objections from local residents.

  • 💼 200 jobs announced in Dundalk: Hanley Energy has confirmed a €593m investment supported by Equinix, with a new advanced manufacturing facility set to create 200 engineering and manufacturing roles.
